The Possession of Natalie Glasgow is a very unique take on your everyday story of possession. That's as far as I'm going with that sentence, but I will say there was an element of this book that really made me mad. It has nothing to do with the writing.. and if you'd like to know what it was, feel free to message me! This is a 3.5 star read for me which I rounded up to 4.
This is a well-written novella by Hailey Piper, and overall I felt generally pleased with this story. It's certainly different and not like anything I have ever read before. It's a quick read but I felt the story was developed perfectly. The reason this was a 3.5 star read for me was that I picked this book up for that word "Possession" on the cover, and I left wanting a little bit more of a creep factor from it. There were certainly some points in the story where Hailey's imagination shone brightly through, but I wished there was more of it throughout. The thing I mentioned in the beginning of this review probably played a lot into the reason why this book disappointed me and I probably would have read it with a different mindset had it not have been for this factor. Again, no spoilers from me so if you'd like to know what that certain element was, feel free to contact me. But, you should probably wait until after you read it if you plan to. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, but I would recommend you not read any reviews about this one and go into it blindly. Also, this has not discouraged me in any way from picking up another book from Hailey Piper, and I look forward to getting my hands on another book from them!
