I created this post to tell you a little bit about myself as well as describe how I review a book, and what you can look forward too from Ghosts in the Attic.

Hello readers, welcome to my book blog, Ghosts in the Attic!

My name is Karlee, and I am from a very small town located in northeastern Pennsylvania. Scranton... I'm near Scranton.

About Me

I am completely obsessed with reading and watching ghost stories. They are what genuinely creeps me out the most, and I love the thrill of being creeped out. My love of horror began in grade school when I would repeatedly check out In a Dark, Dark Room and other Scary Stories by Alvin Schwartz from the school library. My favorite of the stories being The Girl with the Green Ribbon. I would bring this book home and read it to my brother at night using my scary witch voice. So, the horror subgenres I love reading the most are supernatural stories. Ghosts, exorcisms, and possessions are my main jam but I also love vampires, creature features, and paranormal romance. ;-) I do love most horror stories, but I do have some things I don't like or won't read. For example, I hate grief horror that has anything to do with pets. I'm looking at you Pet Sematary. Nope, no thank you, won't do it. Because I don't like feeling sad, and greify, I like to be creeped out though! I hate any kind of animal abuse in any book, but if it's short, I can usually get through it. I am a strong advocate for reading whatever you like, so here's the books I also like to read but don't review here... I love HALLMARK CHRISTMAS STORIES!! I like romance, I like YA, I like sci-fi, and I love adventure stories like the Hobbit, Alice in Wonderland, and Harry Potter! Reading those things definitely does not hinder my credibility to review a horror book. Why? Because you can read and review whatever you want, and everyone's opinion certainly matters in any circumstance. So horror gate-keepers get lost. You're not welcome at Ghosts in the Attic.

To be completely honest, I was quite the avid little reader when I was younger, but in school I did the required readings and that was it. As I'm writing this message, I'm 24 years old, so it's not like I've spent years without picking up a single book, but I definitely do not read nearly as much as some of the other bloggers out there. I'm fairly new to this. So if you are new to horror, you might find me reading some books that you might be interested in! Shoot me a DM on instagram @ghostsintheattic and I will be MORE than happy to discuss a book I'm reading in detail with you and would love to do buddy reads!

My Review Style

I am extremely Hell bent on being SPOILER FREE. I hate spoilers. I will not tell you anything about a plot in my reviews as most reviewers do, because when I go into a book, I do NOT want to know anything about it. I hardly ever read the synopsis, and I will not read other people's reviews before I read a book for that reason. I usually very honestly just look at stars and ratings. If I see a particular book pop up on my friend's instagrams, and they all loved it, then I will definitely read it! So for that reason, I might seem extremely vague. Again, feel free to DM me or e-mail me and I will discuss anything you want, or answer any questions you have!

I give stars based on my enjoyment of a book. (I'm not sure how else anyone would give stars though, lol!) If I loved the book, it scared the poop out of me, I wouldn't change a thing, I give it 5 stars! I usually do not nitpick about grammar and spelling issues unless there are so many it literally annoyed me and I began rolling my eyes while reading.

What you can look forward to from Ghosts in the Attic

I plan to post reviews of horror books as I read them, and maybe review a few of the other things I like to read here and there. But I also plan to post some fun things here and there. These may include, monthly wrap-ups, TBRs, and reading recommendations!

Thank you for visiting Ghosts in the Attic and taking time to read about me!

-Karlee
